Introduction

LuvPlant ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our AI-powered plant care service. Your plant conversations are private and never sold. We do not claim perpetual rights to your data — everything is deleted when you close your account.

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, including:

• Account information (name, email address, phone number)
• Location data (ZIP code, used only for local weather and care advice)
• Plant information (plant names, species, care schedules, health logs)
• AI chat messages (conversations between you and your plant personalities)
• Usage data (how you interact with our service)
• Device information (browser type, operating system)

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and maintain our service
• Generate AI chat responses tailored to your plant and its personality
• Send you plant care reminders via SMS (with your consent)
• Provide local weather-based care advice using your ZIP code
• Improve and develop new features
• Communicate with you about updates and promotions
• Protect against fraud and unauthorized access

AI Chat Data

LuvPlant's plant chat feature is powered by Claude, an AI model developed by Anthropic. Here is how your chat data is handled:

• Your messages are sent to Anthropic's API to generate responses. Anthropic processes these messages in accordance with their privacy policy.
• Chat messages are stored in LuvPlant's database to maintain your conversation history within the app.
• We do not claim perpetual, irrevocable, or commercial rights to your chat content.
• Your conversations are not used to train AI models without your explicit consent.
• All chat messages are permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion.

The AI chat is designed exclusively for plant care guidance. If you attempt to use it for other purposes, the plant personality will redirect the conversation to plant care topics.

SMS Communications

By providing your phone number and opting into SMS reminders, you consent to receive automated SMS messages from LuvPlant regarding plant care. Standard message and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message or updating your preferences in Settings.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share your information only as necessary to operate the service:

• Anthropic — processes chat messages to generate AI responses
• Twilio — delivers SMS reminders to your phone number
• Supabase — hosts our database with row-level security protecting your data
• Vercel — hosts our application infrastructure

All third-party providers are contractually required to handle your data securely and only for the purposes described above.

Age Limit & Children's Privacy

LuvPlant is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18.

• If we discover that we have collected personal information from an individual under 18, we will delete that information and the associated account promptly.
• We do not serve targeted advertising or build behavioral profiles of minors.

If you believe an individual under 18 has created an account, please contact us at privacy@luvplant.app. We will delete the account and all associated data within 72 hours of a confirmed report.

Data Retention

We retain your data only for as long as necessary to provide the service:

• Account data, plant records, and chat messages are retained while your account is active
• All personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days of an account deletion request
• Anonymized, aggregated usage data (which cannot identify you) may be retained for product improvement
• Backup copies are purged within 90 days of the original deletion

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including row-level security on our database so only you can access your own plant and chat data. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your account and all associated data (including chat messages)
• Export your data
• Opt out of SMS communications and marketing emails at any time
• Request that we stop processing your data (where applicable under GDPR)
